About Brayda Business Management
Brayda Business Management is a small management consultancy and business support company with a special interest in helping small and medium-sized organisations succeed.
The company is run by husband and wife team, Shane and Helen Hurst. Both of us have a background in the health, medical insurance and service sectors, however we bring together a wide range of business management and administrative skills, which are transferrable across all industries. Together we have three decades’ worth of business expertise to offer.
Our business, named after our two children, has family values at its heart - honesty, openness, communication, commitment and working together in partnership. We're also friendly, flexible and reliable, which makes working with us easy. Read what our clients say about us.
Based in Romsey, just outside Southampton, we mainly cover the South of England, including Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Surrey and West Sussex.
Shane has a broad base of business skills and knowledge, covering operational management, business planning and strategy development, sales and marketing, business development, cash flow forecasting and reporting, analytics, project management and governance. He has accrued this expertise over 20 years working in the manufacturing, service, health insurance and dental industries, and has held senior management roles since 1999. He is also a trained mentor and a qualified marketer.
He came up with the idea for Brayda Business Management while working at an orthodontic practice as business manager, where his input was instrumental in transforming the business. He realised that small and medium-sized organisations in all sectors often struggle due to a lack of key management expertise and administrative resources and that, together with his wife Helen, he could help to fill those gaps.
Shane applies his organisational skills, business acumen and attention to detail to all our projects, working closely with owners, managers, and their teams, helping them realise opportunities for improvement and to meet their goals.
After studying hospitality Helen became a medical underwriter. She went on to become a senior risk underwriter for a health insurance provider, working on cases valuing over £1 million.
While taking time out to focus on bringing up their two children, she began to take on administrative duties for an orthodontic practice on a part-time basis. She now works alongside Shane at Brayda Business Management, handling our own administration as well as helping our clients with theirs.
Highly customer-focused and a natural communicator, Helen has a knack for spotting opportunities for businesses to improve the way they interact with their customers and coming up with novel yet practical solutions.
